The mission of the Georgia School Boards Association is to ensure excellence in the governance of local school systems by providing leadership, advocacy and services, and by representing the collective resolve of Georgia’s elected boards of education.
The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) was formed by the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) to give high school students the opportunity to provide meaningful input to school board members. The goal of the feedback is to help aid school board members in their decision making and implementation processes. The YAC Committee is comprised of GSBA staff and will serve as a resource to students enrolled in the program. Through this program, we hope that students and school board members can achieve greater awareness regarding academic programs and school climate.
The Mission of the GSBA Youth Advisory Council is to serve and enhance communication among students, teachers and board members within the state of Georgia. The council advises the board members of student interests and provides recommendations on topics ranging from academic programs to school climate.
By joining the council, you will have the opportunity to enhance your leadership skills and contribute to your community by affecting positive change for students across Georgia. Not only will you be able to impact the lives of other students, but you will also gain valuable knowledge that you can use now and in the future. Council members will also get to increase their network by meeting with other students from various Georgia school districts. Participation in the YAC can also be a great resume builder and looks awesome on college applications. As if that weren’t enough, here are a few more perks for joining:
