JUNE 6, 2018– The Georgia School Boards Association will hold the Summer Conference and Delegate Assembly in Savannah, June 8-9. Approximately 600 local board members and superintendents will be in attendance for this year’s Pre-Conference Workshops and the Summer Conference and Delegate Assembly.
This year’s conference keynote speakers include Dr. Donna Beegle of Communicating Across Barriers, Dr. Eris Thomas, State Chief Turnaround Officer, and GSBA Executive Director Mrs. Valarie Wilson. Click here for more information on the conference program schedule, speakers, and exhibitors.
Special guest panel on Saturday, June 9 will consist of a discussion between the candidates for State School Superintendent: democratic runoff candidates Dr. Sid Chapman and Mr. Otha Thornton and republican nominee and incumbent Mr. Richard Woods. This session will be moderated by Atlanta Journal Constitution, Education Columnist, Ms. Maureen Downey.
The Pre-Conference meetings will consist of state approved training sessions and new board member orientation. The Summer Conference highlights the general sessions to discuss the most recent developments in public education policy, law and best practices. Attendees will also have the opportunity to review educational products and services in the exhibit hall.
The Delegate Assembly is the annual business meeting of GSBA. It is made up of representatives from the membership and will meet to discuss and approve legislative policy and positions of the Association, and vote on new officers.
