Vernon Payne was first elected GSBA District 11 Director in 1989. He has chaired the GSBA Risk Management Fund Board of Trustees and served as a member of the GSBA Workers’ Compensation Fund Board of Trustees. Payne also served as a member of the NSBA Advocacy Institute (FRN), GSBA Governmental Operations Committee, the Executive Committee and the Nominating Committee. He has served the Clarke County Board of Education since 1980 and has held the positions of chair, vice chair, chairman of the Property Committee and was a member of the Policy Committee and SPLOST Oversight Committee. Mr. Payne has been named Emeritus Director in honor of his years of service.
