District 13 Director

James B. Lanier, Jr. is a father, businessman, and supporter of education. Born on Feb. 27, 1965 (the oldest of 8), He later attended Midland Valley High School and graduated from Jenkins County High in Millen, Ga. Lanier then attended Georgia Southern College. He has two children: James B. (Ben) Lanier III (25 years old, DHS class of 12, UGA class of 16, UGA MPA class of 18 with honors) ; Brenna Rose (18 years old, DHS class of 19).

Lanier, elected in 2008, currently serves as Vice chair of the Dublin City Board of Education.

Professionally, Lanier is the former regional safety manager for Georgia North Carolina and South Carolina Waste Pro.  South Carolina area business manager Waste Pro. He currently serves as Managing partner of Ryland Environmental, Inc.  

Lanier has lived in Dublin/Laurens County since 1989. 

Lanier’s outreach efforts include: Serving on the Keep Dublin-Laurens Beautiful Board as its chairman, serving on the Heart of Georgia College and Career Academy, serving as Kids State Director for USA Wrestling, GHSA certified official in football, baseball, softball and wrestling. He also served as a member at-large for the Daufuskie Island Conservancy, as a Member of the Tybee Island Recycling and beautification Board, as a member of the Beaufort County Emergency preparedness committee, and volunteered and coached in the Dublin-Laurens County Recreation leagues.
