District 1 Director

Amy has served on the Bryan County Board of Education since 2012.  She was elected as Chairman of the Bryan County Board of Education in 2019.  Ms. Murphy serves as the system’s Delegate for GSBA’s Delegate Assembly as well as serving on the Governmental Operations Committee (GOC).

Amy holds a Bachelor of Arts in English degree from North Carolina State University and a Master of Social Work degree from Syracuse University. She is a clinical social worker with over 20 years experience in Child and Adolescent mental health. Amy is a passionate advocate for public education and strongly believes in the positive impact it can have on child’s life. 

Amy and her husband, Tony, happily moved to Georgia many years ago to raise their children. Amy has a son who is starting his second year at Georgia State University and a daughter entering her second year in high school. Proudly, her children have always attended public school.
