The GSBA Student Video Contest empowers Georgia’s students to showcase their educational experiences through creative digital storytelling. This opportunity enhances media skills, celebrates student achievements, and showcases the vibrant learning environments in Georgia’s schools. Participation in this contest promises not only recognition and potential awards for students but also a chance for schools and districts to demonstrate their commitment to promoting student engagement and creativity.

Submission Requirements

Please review the submission requirements below for comprehensive guidelines on submitting your entry to the GSBA Student Video Contest. This section provides detailed information on eligibility, video specifications, and how to submit your work for award consideration.

The following requirements must be met in order to be eligible to apply for the GSBA Student Video contest:

School Membership: Each submission must be from a GSBA member high school.

Submission Limit: Only one (1) video entry per school will be allowed.

Faculty Sponsorship: A faculty member from the school must sponsor the video submission.

Principal Approval: The school’s principal must review and sign the contest rules and authorization form.

Student Consent: All students appearing in the video must complete and submit signed media release forms.

Student Video Contest Requirements

Video Length: Each video must be 30 seconds to 1 minute in length.

Application Deadline: Each video must be submitted by the application deadline. No late entries will be considered.

Professional Assistance: Each video must be student-created. No professional writing, editing, or production assistance is allowed.

Creative Format: Students may choose a desired video format (e.g commercial, news broadcast, music video, etc.) but content should be aligned to the annual video contest theme.

Submission Platform: GSBA uses Award Force, to streamline the application process. This enables applicants to input information, upload documents, and adjust entries up to the submission deadline. New users may register for a free account submit their application.

Evaluation: The GSBA Awards committee is responsible for the judging process determines 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards based on a rubric system.

Judging Criteria: Videos are evaluated based on their alignment with the annual video contest theme, creativity, and production quality.

Award Ceremony: The top three and up to three honorable mentions will be highlighted at the GSBA/GSSA Annual Conference.

Monetary Incentives: Winners receive $1,000, $500, and $250 for first, second, and third places respectively, benefiting their school’s arts or video programs.
