Through a comprehensive grassroots network, the association advocates for the legislative positions approved by delegates from member boards at the annual Delegate Assembly. By adhering to effective communications strategies, GSBA strives to keep members up-to-date on education issues and best practices.
Be a Well-Informed Advocate
GSBA’s advocacy program includes having a presence at the table when education policy and legislation are being considered. This activity is year-round. Members are included in numerous ways to assure that the association’s positions represent our membership. Communications efforts to inform stakeholders include print and online publications, email, web and face-to-face communications.
GSBA/GSSA Legislative Site Visits
In an effort to have board members and superintendents present at the Capitol throughout each session of the General Assembly, GSBA and GSSA staff will be hosting legislative site visits each year in February. View the GSBA District Map.
The day begins with a one-hour update, 9:00 – 10:00, from the GSBA and GSSA staff to give you the latest information on what’s happening in the legislature.
Board members should contact their legislators to let them know you will be at the Capitol on the date you have chosen. Ask for a meeting.
